Job Description
The holder of this position will be expected to have overall knowledge of aircraft electrical systems and installation principles and should be proficient in the use of CADDS5 and/or CATIA V4 or above. A broad understanding of airframe structural design is also required.
- Manage and complete preliminary schemes, trade studies, ICY interface and frontier models or drawings and installation drawings for the electrical systems.
- The systems installations must be designed such that weight is kept to a minimum whilst meeting cost targets.
- Will liaise closely with the structural designers and supportability engineers to ensure that the installation of the systems can be easily accessed and maintained.
- Location of the systems must be such that overall integrity following engine non-containment or tyre burst for example is maintained.
Tasks
- Responsible for managing a small team of electrical system installation designers to complete a quality task on time.
- Responsible for ensuring that the design of the installation fully meets the requirements as laid down in the specification.
- Responsible for ensuring that the airworthiness requirements are met.
- Responsible for ensuring that the integrity of the design meets the standards laid down.
- Responsible for producing summary and detailed presentations when required.
Skills
- Have working experience as an aircraft electrical system installation engineer with knowledge of systems installation requirements and principles.
- Good understanding of aircraft production methods and processes.
- Be a team player with high regard for internal and external customers.
- Have a good understanding of cost effective design. Preferably possess a degree or HNC and have a good general engineering background. Will need to be proficient in CADDS 5 or CATIA
This has a salary banding Professional (P) Salary is dependent on skill and experience.
