Permanent Technical/ Engineering Design Manager
Job Description
This is an exciting and rewarding position with a well established construction business based in Sheffield, the company specialise in design, manufacturing and supplying of niche products and solutions predominantly for the construction industry.
A position has become available for a Technical Design Manager to join their existing team. This is a management post with the opportunity to progress and develop and eventually to have significant input into the day to day decision making process. With a constantly evolving product range to design there is plenty of opportunity to be involved with New Product Development / design as well as working on existing products.
Duties will include but are not limited to;
· Develop project plans to implement strategic program goals, identify milestones, resource needs, conduct project assessment and perform task planning, design, implementation, evaluation and budget recommendations.
· Provide a good level of technical support.
· Lead development efforts, and act as senior technical editor for all documents.
· Track current trends, evaluate, recommend, and support implementations of emerging technology for ongoing planned projects, develop and deliver presentations, technical and design documentations.
· Supervise development department, also its infrastructure and strategies. Train staff and others via mentoring, one to one coaching etc
· 3D/ 2D CAD Design and development of new products and modifications to existing products.
Experience & Skills Set
· Previous experience within a similar role would be extremely advantageous
· Experienced in engineering, mechanical/ product design and hydraulics
· Fully au fait with 3D software including Solid Edge
· Ability to work in both 2D and 3D CAD applications.
· An innovative approach to design with creative flair
· Excellent communication and people skills, a lateral thinker with the ability to ‘think outside of the box’.
· Strong project management/ engineering skills.
Salary: £30,000 – £40,000
